The University of London

UniSey delivers a selection of the University of London International Programmes.  For more information on the scheme as a whole, visit:

The University of London is one of the world’s leading academic institutions, internationally recognised as a centre of excellence.  Through its International Programmes, the university has been offering degree programmes to international students for 150 years.  Students across the world who follow the University of London programmes are all examined to the same standard.  Upon successful completion of the University of London degree programmes, students are awarded a degree from that institution.

In 2005, the University of London courses were audited by the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA), the UK’s independent body for safeguarding the quality and standards of higher education.  The QAA confirmed that confidence can be placed in the university’s management of the quality of programmes and the standards of awards made through the International Programmes.

The University of London International Programmes global community of former students and alumni includes Nobel Prize Winner Sir Fredrick Gowland Hopkins, Ronald Coase,  Wole Soyinka, Derek Walcott, Nelson Mandela and one of our very own Seychellois academics, Professor. Rolph Payet.  Other exceptional graduates who have made their mark on the world include Asa Briggs (academic), Sir Barnes Wallis (engineer), Dr. Luisa Diogo (politician), H.G. Wells (writer), and Chinua Achebe (writer).

The advantage of enrolling with an institution such as UniSey, which delivers University of London International Programmes, is that students attend locally delivered lectures, seminars and tutorials.  They can also use the physical resources of the institution, such as library and IT facilities, and engage in the social and cultural life of UniSey.  Members of the faculty at UniSey use materials and resources from the University of London International Programmes and supplement these to fully support students here. The teaching faculty includes well-qualified resident academics, as well as visiting lecturers.

Many universities of international repute initially delivered University of London International Programmes prior to developing their own courses.

Upon successful completion of their studies, students are awarded a University of London degree or diploma.  Although the standards of these awards are maintained at the same level as the standards of awards conferred to students studying at one of the Colleges of the University of London, the awards are distinct from degrees or other qualifications awarded by these Colleges.

Academic direction for all of the courses offered through the University of London International Programmes is provided by Colleges of the University.  Academics at these Colleges develop the syllabuses, prepare the study materials, and are responsible for the assessment of students.  This means that students benefit from the academic rigour and leading-edge research undertaken by the various Colleges.  It also ensures that the standard of award made to students through the International Programmes is maintained at the same level as the standard of award made to students studying at one of the Colleges of the University of London.
